Services
Bright Futures UK can advise and help you arrange and deliver many services for your child. That means you don’t have to worry about logistics for most of the tests that your child will need.
In this way we can improve diagnoses, expedite treatment, and increase your level of confidence and peace of mind that your child is getting the most expedient, comprehensive care possible.
Some of the services that Bright Futures Clinic can deliver include the following:
Health Check-up
A physical examination will be carried out after the paediatrician has completed a comprehensive age appropriate medical history, during which he/she will review any symptoms and concerns.
This is a great opportunity to explore anything that concerns you and allows plenty of time to go through a thorough check-up.
Immunisation Review
Keeping up to date with immunisations is so important for your child. We will discuss any concerns you may have about immunisations and can provide flexible services including chicken pox vaccine. Bring any records with you and we will review and update if necessary to help ensure full protection.
Laboratory Work
Different routine tests are needed at different stages of childhood. The routine tests will help us assess heart, liver and kidney function and may help identify any other health anomalies. The results will be shared with you to develop a health plan and consider any further testing.
Some standard tests include:
General health – full blood count, calcium, iron, B12, vitamin D, lead
Heart and blood vessel health – lipid panel (cholesterol, triglycerides) cholesterol levels in children
Liver health – alkaline phosphatase, AST
Kidney health – albumin, creatinine
Diabetes screen – fasting glucose, A1C
Thyroid health – TSH
Infections – throat swabs (strep test), urine tests, mono test, RSV test
We may agree to order other tests if appropriate.
Chest X-Ray
A chest X-ray is an imaging test used to diagnose injury and diseases affecting the lungs, heart, blood vessels and other structures in the chest.
It is a quick and painless imaging test used to create images of the structures in and around your chest.
The average chest x-ray uses a small amount of radiation (0.1 mSv), equivalent to about 10 days of natural background radiation, and it may identify infectious diseases such as pneumonia, asthma, and benign or malignant tumours.
Treatment Review
The Treatment Review allows you to discuss any treatments your child may be taking with us and ask questions in a relaxed environment.
If you have any concerns about any treatments or medications that your child is receiving, this is an opportunity for you to talk about it.
As part of the health plan, we will ask you about any medicines or treatments that your child is taking. It will therefore be necessary for you to bring any prescription details with you, so that we can get a detailed understanding. This will help us shape your child’s healthcare plan.
By offering these services during your visit, we can improve diagnoses, expedite treatment, and increase your level of confidence and peace of mind that your child is getting the most expedient, comprehensive care possible.
